Description of this Poster The Clan of the Sicilians

Le Clan des Siciliens is a 1969 French-Italian gangster film based on the novel by Auguste Le Breton. The film was directed by Henri Verneuil and stars Jean Gabin, Lino Ventura and Alain Delon, whose casting contributed to the film's success at the French box office.[6][7] Ennio Morricone composed the music for the film.

In Paris, Roger Sartet, a jewel thief, escapes with the help of the Manalese, a small, well-organized Sicilian mafia clan, made up of the patriarch Vittorio, his two sons and his son-in-law. In prison, Sartet meets a technician responsible for setting up electronic security at an exhibition center in Rome, who gradually provides him with details about the system. A collection of priceless jewelry will soon be exhibited in this center.

Vittorio and another mafioso, Tony Nicosia from New York, go to the exhibition and find that the extra security measures make a simple theft difficult. The jewels will then be exhibited in New York and Nicosia hatches a plan to steal the jewels while they are on their way. He sends Jack, an alcoholic former pilot, as part of his plan.

Meanwhile, in Paris, police commissioner Le Goff tracks down the escapee from Sartet, who killed two of his men in cold blood. The Manalese have placed him in a hideout, where he is watched by Jeanne, the French wife of Aldo, Vittorio's eldest son, but he escapes to go to the hotel with a young girl. When Le Goff's men enter the room, Sartet escapes through the window. Le Goff guesses that Sartet will need false papers to leave the country. His investigations lead him to the Manalese and their arcade game business, which serves as a cover for their illegal activities. While he questions Vittorio, Sartet escapes from the building under Le Goff's nose.

In a hiding place near the Italian border, Jeanne sunbathes naked in front of Sartet who reacts by starting to make love. They are interrupted by Roberto, Vittorio's six-year-old grandson, who Jeanne asks not to say anything. On their way to Rome, the gang discreetly kidnaps Edward Evans, an English insurer responsible for overseeing the transfer of the jewels to New York, and Sartet takes his place among the officials who accompany the jewels on a scheduled flight. The other passengers on the plane are Jack, Jeanne, Vittorio and his sons.

During a stopover in Paris, Evans' wife is allowed to board the plane to greet her husband, but Vittorio makes her believe that Evans will be on the same flight the next day. Mrs. Evans then telephones Rome to learn that her husband never arrived there and immediately goes to the police. At police headquarters, she identifies Sartet as one of the men she saw on the plane.

During the descent to New York, the gang hijacks the plane. Warned of Sartet's imminent arrival in the United States, the local police rush to the airport, but Jack lands the plane on a highway closed by Nicosia's men. They unload the jewelry and the gangsters go their separate ways. Sartet is hiding in New York, waiting for his share of the loot.

Back in Paris, the Manalese family watches a film in which a couple begins to make love. Little Roberto exclaims that this looks like what Sartet did with Jeanne. Although Jeanne denies everything outright, the others tend to believe the child. They lure Sartet to Paris by promising to give him his share. Jeanne calls Sartet's sister to warn him of the trap, but when she goes to the airport, she learns that, wary of the Manalese, he arrived on an earlier flight.

Vittorio agrees to meet Sartet on a vacant lot, bringing the money and Jeanne. Once Sartet arrives, he shoots him and the girl, leaving the money near the corpses for the police to find. Back home, Vittorio is arrested by Le Goff.
