Description of this vintage we can do it poster
This vintage poster is a propaganda visual created by J. Howard Miller in 1943 with his famous "We can do it!". It was the Westinghouse Electric factory that published it to give strength and courage to women workers during the Second World War. The woman depicted is "Rosie the Riveter": while retaining her feminine features, she rolls up her sleeves revealing muscular arms, asserting forcefully: "We can do it!". Later, this visual would be taken up by feminists. The reinterpretation by feminists was an ideal symbol: a strong and independent woman who does not suffer from paternalism, without however denying femininity and glamour, but with an arm of honor to make it clear that she is not there to joke .
