Description of this Poster The 5th Element
The Fifth Element is a 1997 French film (with co-production in the United States) directed by Luc Besson, starring Bruce Willis, Mila Jovovich and Gary Oldman and which is part of science fiction, action and the comedy. Primarily set in the 21st century, the film's central plot involves the survival of planet Earth, which becomes the responsibility of Korben Dallas (Willis), a taxi driver and former special forces commander, after a young woman (Jovovich) fell into her cabin. To do this, Dallas joins forces with him to recover four mystical stones essential to the defense of Earth against the imminent attack of a malevolent cosmic entity.
Besson began writing the story that became The Fifth Element when he was 16; He was 38 years old when the film was released in theaters. Besson wanted to film the film in France, but no suitable facilities were found; Filming took place in London and Mauritania. Comedians Jean "Moebius" Giraud and Jean-Claude Mézières, whose books inspired parts of the film, were hired for production design. The costume design was done by Jean-Paul Gaultier.
The Fifth Element received mostly positive reviews, although it has tended to polarize critics. It has been called the best and worst summer hit of all time. The film was a financial success, earning over $263 million at the box office on a budget of $90 million. At the time of its release, it was the most expensive European film ever made, and it remained the highest-grossing French film at the international box office until the release of Intocable in 2011.
In 1914, an archaeologist and his assistant met in the Egyptian desert to study the carvings on the walls of an ancient temple. According to the engravings, every 5,000 years, a being called The Evil One arrives on Earth and the function of the temple is to house a power capable of defeating him. A local priest, concerned that the archaeologist would be able to decipher the true nature of the temple, unsuccessfully attempts to poison them.
Extraterrestrials known as Mondoshawan demonstrate on site and in a secret chamber to remove the weapon capable of defeating the Great Evil which appears every five thousand years, believing that the presence of archaeologists shows that the earth is no longer a safe place to house her. . The weapon is composed of four stones, representing the four elements, and a sarcophagus in the form of a human being. The Mondoshawan promise their human contact, the priest, that they will return with the Elements in time to stop the Great Evil, but an accident forces them to leave the key to the room with the priest and leave instructions to pass on to their successors until 'at their return.
In the middle of the 19th century, the Evil One reappears in space in the form of a gigantic black ball of fire destroying a battleship on the ground. When the Mondoshawan return to Earth, they are ambushed by the Megalores, a belligerent and outlawed alien race hired by businessman Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg (Gary Oldman), who in turn was hired by The Evil One to grab the 4 stones. The Mondoshawan ship is destroyed and the only thing Earth's scientists can recover is a hand of the fifth element. This member is taken to a science center in New York where they completely reconstruct the "survivor", who turns out to be a girl (Milla Jovovich). She wakes up scared and confused by whatever is escaping her confinement, eventually jumping off a ledge and landing in the flying taxi of Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), a former Special Forces commander.
Before passing out, the girl names Vito Cornelius, so Dallas takes her to the priest and apprentice, David (Charlie Creed-Miles) although Korben only manages to spend a few minutes with the girl, he is quickly attracted by her, but, before removed from the place, he only has time to discover that his name is "Leeloo Minai Laketareba-Laminai-Tchai Ekbat De Sebat", so he decides to nickname her Leeloo.
On another side of the city, the megalores meet Zorg and deliver the stone chest to him, salvaged from the remains of the ship in exchange for more modern weapons with which to stock up; to his misfortune, they discover that the chest was empty, which is why the human initially refuses to provide them with weapons and later betrays them by detonating their weapons after he retreats.
At the same time, Leeloo explains to Cornelius that Mondoshawan anticipated this scenario and decided to send the stones to the liner Fhloston Paradise so that one of their allies, the Diva Plavalaguna (Maïwenn), would keep them until the appropriate moment. The Mondoshawan informs the Earth government of the location of the stones, so the President orders the military to begin an operation to recover them without knowing that they are being spied on by Zorg's men, those who want to know their whereabouts. the stones to steal them and also by the megalores, those who want them to take revenge on Zorg collect a ransom.
On orders from the President, General Munro (Brion James), re-enlisted Korben and ordered him to travel undercover, as the winner of a radio competition, to meet the Diva on a luxury space cruise . Zorg's men, the Megalores and Father Cornelius, unaware that he is an undercover agent, Korben is confronted and ambushed one after the other in an attempt to impersonate him to secretly enter in the cruise, This causes a series of massacres and confusion that ends with the real Korben approaching the cruise accompanied by Leeloo and Cornelius as a stowaway.
Already there, Korben must attend a presentation of La Diva accompanied by Ruby Rhod, a scandalous and annoying radio announcer. During the show, the Megalores attack La Diva's rooms and murder their employees while trying to steal the stones. Leeloo recognizes them as responsible for the Modoshawan's death, he confronts and easily kills them before being riddled and seriously injured. This makes the Megalors decide to take a more aggressive approach and take control of the ship. Meanwhile, Zorg steals a chest belonging to the Diva, assuming the stones are inside and escapes the place without first placing a time bomb to destroy the ship.
During the hostage taking, the diva is killed, but with his last strength he manages to reveal to Korben that he carries the stones inside his body, from where the human manages to recover them; after that, he plunges into a savage fight against the aliens until he manages to assassinate his leader and make them surrender. the cruise's alarm system sounds an alert upon detecting the bomb, so the ship is evacuated while Zorg returns on board discovering that the stones were not in the chest, dying in the explosion . On the other hand, evil sends a part of itself to earth to settle in the temple.
Korben, Leeloo, Cornelius and Ruby manage to save themselves by stealing Zorg's ship before the explosion, beginning a race against time to reach the temple before the evil one. The four of them go to the secret weapon chamber of the Egyptian temple, as the planet of the Evil One approaches Earth at high speed.
The group manages to activate the stones, but Leeloo refuses to cooperate as he has become disenchanted after witnessing the aggressive and warlike nature of humanity, furthermore, he feels that he does not have a true goal as as an individual who justifies his life. Dallas explains that despite the war, there were still other reasons why life is worth protecting, such as love; He admits to being in love with her and kisses her. Leeloo combines the power of the stones and releases the Divine Light, making The Evil One latent as a new moon in Earth's orbit.
