Description of this Snow White Poster
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the first animated feature film produced by Walt Disney and the first to be included in the Walt Disney Classics canon. It premiered on December 21, 1937 at the Carthay Circle Theater in Hollywood. The film is an adaptation of the fairy tale of the same name published by the Brothers Grimm in 1812, a story deeply rooted in European traditions.
In 1989, the film was deemed "culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. It made the AFI's Top 10 Films list, topping the animation category.
In October 2016, it was confirmed that Disney was planning a live-action version of the film.4 On June 22, 2021, actress Rachel Zegler was cast to play Snow White.
Every day, the Evil Queen asked her magic mirror: "Tell me one thing, who is the most beautiful in this kingdom?" The mirror replied: “You, my Queen, are the most beautiful.” One day, the Evil Queen consulted her mirror, and it answered her for the first time: "You are very beautiful, Majesty, but oh, there is another more beautiful, a creature who even dressed in rags is more as beautiful as a star, and you cannot surpass its beauty.” The evil queen, furious, asked who it was. The mirror answered: “Her lips are like crimson, her hair is black like ebony, and her skin is like snow.” The Queen is horrified, she then knows that it is her own daughter-in-law Snow White.
That day, while Snow White was singing near the well, a prince who was passing by heard her. Captivated by the melodious voice, he jumps over the castle walls and declares his love for her. So Snow White fell in love with the prince.
The queen watches them through a window and, in her jealousy, orders Humbert, the huntsman, to take his stepdaughter Snow White into the forest and kill her there. As proof that he had carried out the order, he had to bring his heart in a chest.
But seeing her so noble and so beautiful, the huntsman took pity on the young princess Snow White and confessed to her the cruel intentions of her wicked stepmother, the Queen, and told her to get as far away as possible from her terrible fury.
Snow White ran far into the forest, frightened by the shadows and strange noises of the darkness until she was overcome with fear. In the morning, she noticed that several forest animals were watching her, which helped her reach a beautiful cottage in a clearing in the forest, and she entered it to rest. Everything in the cottage was small and dirty. Snow White, with the help of forest animals, managed to clean and beautify the house. Then, going upstairs, she found a room with seven small beds. Tired, she lay down on three of them and quickly fell asleep.
When night came, the owners of the little house returned. They were seven little dwarves who went every day to work in the diamond mines, far away in the heart of the mountains. They were surprised to see that everything was spotless, and even more surprised to discover that someone was sleeping in their bed.
“Oh, it’s a girl, and a very pretty girl,” they exclaimed in surprise when they saw Snow White. Snow White woke up, and when she saw the dwarves, she was afraid, but she quickly gained confidence when she met them and told them her story.
Snow White asked her stepmother for asylum, and in exchange she had to cook and keep the house clean. The dwarves agreed and, as a welcome, they threw a small party with music and dancing for Snow White.
Meanwhile, at the castle, the Evil Queen asked her magic mirror who was the most beautiful, and it answered: "Behind the seven Jade Hills, behind the seventh waterfall, in the cabin of the seven dwarves, lives Blanche- Snow, she is the most beautiful." The Evil Queen tells her magic mirror that her stepdaughter Snow White is buried in the forest, and that in the chest is her heart. The magic mirror revealed to him that the heart belonged to a wild boar. The Evil Queen realized the hunter's betrayal and decided to deal with it herself. She went down to the dungeon where she had a room to practice the dark arts, and transformed herself into an ugly, beggar old witch, prepared a beautiful red apple and poisoned it with a powerful spell that would cause her stepdaughter Snow White to fall into a sleep as deep as death. The only antidote was a true love's kiss, but she thought nothing of it, because she thought the seven dwarves would bury her if they thought she was dead.
The forest animals recognized the Evil Queen disguised as an old witch and tried to attack her, unsuccessfully, because Snow White stopped them by sheltering her own evil stepmother inside the cabin. Seeing that they could not save her, the animals ran to warn the seven dwarves that Snow White was in danger and that she had been found and discovered by her evil stepmother, the Evil Queen.
Snow White received the apple as a gift, and the Evil Queen made her believe that if she bit into it, her wishes would come true.
Snow White fell dead when she bit into it, and her wicked stepmother laughed mischievously, shouting that she was already the most beautiful. As soon as she left the house, a storm broke out and the dwarves quickly arrived and began chasing her; she started running until she climbed a cliff. Arriving at the top, the queen, seeing herself cornered, began to push a large rock with a branch to crush the seven dwarves, but as she was about to do so, lightning struck the branch, causing a landslide which caused her to roll down the cliff, before being crushed by the rock and dying.
Back home, the seven dwarves did not have the courage to bury Snow White, so they built her a glass coffin and took her to a clearing in the forest to watch over her forever. It was then that the same Prince appeared whom she had met at the castle and who had looked for her everywhere, and seeing Snow White, as beautiful as when she was alive, gave her a kiss of true love as a sign of farewell. Thanks to this, Snow White woke up from her deep sleep. The Prince, the little animals and the seven dwarves had a party. Snow White said goodbye to each of them, thanking them for everything they had done for her. Snow White and the prince lived happily ever after.
