Description of this Poster The Brain
Le Cerveau is a 1969 French comedy film directed by Gérard Oury, which recounts a second train heist by the mastermind of the 1963 Grand Robbery. The film stars Jean-Paul Belmondo and Bourvil as two small-time French crooks, David Niven as a British army officer who is secretly a criminal mastermind and Eli Wallach as a Sicilian mafioso.
Arthur, who is due to be released from prison in four days, escapes to join his accomplice Anatole and rob a night train transporting millions of euros from Paris to Brussels. The money belongs to NATO and Colonel Matthews is responsible for moving it. It is in fact the unknown mastermind of the Great Train Robbery, nicknamed "The Brain".
In his scheme to reoffend, Matthews recruits a mafioso called Scannapieco to launder the money for a small percentage. While visiting the Sicilian's villa near Palermo, he attracts the attention of Sofia, the mafioso's sister, who decides to give him her virginity. This infuriates his brother, who considers that his honor is being violated and decides that instead of a contemptible percentage, he will take all the money himself.
The train leaves with the money, Arthur and Anatole being disguised as railway workers. Blow a hole in the armor of the secure train car, they drop stink balls inside, prompting the guards to open the door. Suddenly, the guards are incapacitated by gas and two explosions release the wagon teams - unbeknownst to Anatole and Arthur, the gas and explosives were planted by Colonel Matthews as part of his plan. When the stagecoach stops, Anatole and Arthur throw the bags of money down the embankment. However, it is at this precise location that Colonel Matthews' team is waiting, disguised as firefighters. They pick up the bags and leave, sirens blaring, leaving Arthur and Anatole to walk back to Paris, without a penny.
The firefighters don't get far as they come across a roadblock, where the police recover the money and arrest Matthews. In fact, they are not police officers but disguised mafiosi led by Scannapieco, whose plan is to get the money out of France in a replica of the Statue of Liberty. Hijacking a DS19, Arthur and Anatole set off in pursuit. Sofia, who freed Matthews and locked her brother in the trunk of a cabin, also took part in the pursuit at the wheel of a BMW 2000 coupe. The three groups of criminals were pursued by the police and found themselves on the quays of Le Havre .
As the Statue of Liberty is hoisted aboard the SS France liner, Arthur goes on board and finds the money, which falls in a shower of bills onto the crowd on the quay. The film ends on the ship entering New York harbor, where Matthews confides to Arthur and Anatole the secret of his next operation, which involves hijacking a shipment of bullion bound for Fort Knox.
