Exasperated by her fiancé's behavior, Jane decides to leave. After his recovery, Mike is no longer able to find work in film and is forced to feign mental retardation and invent a family to receive Social Security benefits. One day, his stuntman friend Santos asks him to occasionally fill in for him at his job, which involves dressing up like a gorilla to advertise pasta in a supermarket.

When he learns that the Count has asked to marry Jane, he manually sabotages the dinner and makes Jane promise to make the film.
