Description of this Regain Film Poster
“Regain” is a French film directed by Marcel Pagnol in 1937. The story takes place in a small village in Provence, where drought has struck the land, leaving the region desolate and deserted. People left their villages, leaving behind dry fields, empty houses and bitter memories.
In this difficult context, a stranger arrives in the village. His name is Panturle and he decides to settle in an old abandoned sheepfold. He is welcomed by an old woman, Amédée, who lives alone in an isolated house. Panturle also meets Arsule, a young woman who works in the fields, and falls in love with her.
Panturle, who is a very good man with his hands, begins to work the land and revive the fields that have been abandoned. Little by little, the village comes back to life and the inhabitants begin to return. But everything is not easy for Panturle, who must face the hostility of certain villagers who do not look favorably on his installation.
