Description of this Texas Chainsaw Massacre Film Poster
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a 1974 American horror film directed and produced by Tobe Hooper, who also helped write the film's screenplay and music. The film tells the story of a group of five young people who fall into the hands of a family of cannibals in rural Texas.
Shot on a low budget and with unknown actors, the film was contested by film monitoring bodies in many countries, who considered its violence disturbing, as did some of the film criticism of the time. At the box office, it turned into a surprise hit that still has a large number of fans today. This early slasher left a lasting mark on the horror genre and gave rise to several sequels and a series of films. Meanwhile, Texas Chain Saw Massacre is on many critics' lists of the best and most influential horror films of all time.
In the opening sequence, a television news anchor reads reports on the radio of grave robbing and violent deaths, accompanied by flashes of rotting corpses and images of solar prominences.
Five young people (Kirk, Pam, Jerry, Franklin and his sister Sally) are looking for the house of Sally and Franklin's grandparents in the Texas countryside. In doing so, they come across a family of former butchers who have degenerated into cannibals who collect human and animal remains in their mansion to decorate their house. The family consists of a mentally disturbed man whom the group had hitchhiked before, a gas station manager who seemed relatively reasonable at first, an infantile giant with changing masks made of human skin called "Leatherface". ("Leather Face"), who preferably cuts his victims with a chainsaw, and their grandfather, nicknamed "Grandpa", who uses a wheelchair.
During the day, Kirk, Pam, Jerry and Franklin are successively victims of the series of murders perpetrated by the family. The last of the five, Sally, is also captured, but manages to escape while attempting to retrieve her for slaughter. During her escape, she is pursued by "Leatherface" and the hitchhiker, but the latter is hit and killed by a truck. Wounded and covered in blood, she finally manages to escape by jumping on a passing pickup truck. In the film's final frame, "Leatherface" aimlessly brandishes his chainsaw as the sun rises over the set.
