Les Tontons flingueurs is a 1963 West German Franco-Italian crime comedy film with French dialogue, directed by Georges Lautner. It is an adaptation of the book by Albert Simonin Grisbi or not grisbi The film is the last part of the Max the Liar trilogy; it was preceded by Touchez pas au grisbi and Le cave se rebiffe.
The film was not critically appreciated when first released in 1963, but was popular with audiences. Its reputation has grown over the years to become cult and today it is a classic of French television, snippets of dialogue and character names (like the prostitute Lulu la Nantaise) forming part of the culture popular. The DVD version, released in 2002, sold 250,000 copies.
