Description of this Jaws 2 Poster

Jaws 2 is a 1978 American horror film directed by Jeannot Szwarc and co-written by Carl Gottlieb. It is the sequel to Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975), and the second installment in the Jaws franchise. The film stars Roy Scheider[4] as the police chief Martin Brody, Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton reprising their respective roles as Ellen Brody, Martin's wife, and Larry Vaughn, the town's mayor. Joseph Mascolo, Jeffrey Kramer, Collin Wilcox, Ann Dusenberry, Mark Gruner, Susan French, Barry Coe, Donna Wilkes, Gary Springer, and Keith Gordon in his first film role The plot concerns Chief Brody who suspects another great white shark to terrorize the fictional resort town of Amity Island, following a series of incidents and disappearances, and his suspicions ultimately prove correct.

Much like the production of the original film, production of Jaws 2 was disrupted. The film's first director, John D. Hancock, proved unsuitable for an action film and was replaced by Szwarc. Scheider, who only reprized his role to end a contractual issue with Universal, was also unhappy with the production and had several heated exchanges with Szwarc.

Jaws 2 was briefly the highest-grossing sequel in history until the release of Rocky II in 1979. The film's tagline, "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water ... "became one of the most famous in the history of cinema and has been parodied and covered several times. The film received mixed reviews and was followed by Jaws 3-D in 1983 and Jaws: The Revenge of Jaws in 1987.

As a new hotel opens on Amity Island, an 8m great white shark kills two divers who were photographing the wreck of the Orca before heading into Amity waters. Their camera, which took pictures during the attack, was found the next day. The shark then kills a water skier. The boat's driver tried to defend herself using a gas canister and a flare, but the boat exploded, killing her and severely burning the right side of the shark's face.

An orca carcass is found on the beach. Police Chief Martin Brody believes a shark is responsible. Brody explains his concerns to Mayor Larry Vaughn, who doubts the town will have another shark problem. Brody then finds floating debris from the destroyed speedboat and the burned remains of the boat's driver. Brody calls Matt Hooper for help, but he is in Antarctica on a research expedition. Brody forbids his 17-year-old son Mike from boating out of fear for his safety and finds him a job on the beach as community service.

The next day, Brody watches a beach from an observation tower and panics by mistaking a school of blue fish for a shark and shooting them. However, his fears are confirmed when photos from the diver's camera are processed, and one of them shows a close-up of the shark. When he presents it to the Amity city council, it refuses to believe that it is a shark, and votes to oust Brody from his position as police chief.

The next morning, Mike disobeys his father's orders and goes sailing with his friends, taking his 10-year-old younger brother Sean with him. Marge, another teenager, takes Sean with her. They set out on six different boats and pass a team of divers led by instructor Tom Andrews. Moments after submerging, Andrews encounters the shark. Panicked, he rushes to the surface, causing an embolism. Shortly after, the shark struck the boat of teenage couple Eddie Marchand and Tina Wilcox, who had moved away from the others. Eddie falls into the water and is torn to death.

Brody and his wife Ellen watch as Tom is evacuated by ambulance and learn that the other divers suspect something has scared him. Deputy Jeff Hendricks, who replaced Brody, tells them that Mike has gone boating with his friends. So Brody and Ellen commandeer the police boat, helped by a reluctant Hendricks, to rescue them. They come across Tina's boat and find her hiding in the bow; it confirms the presence of the shark. Brody hails a passing boat to take Hendricks, Ellen and Tina to shore, where the truth is revealed, while he goes looking for the children.

Meanwhile, the shark attacks the group, hitting one of their boats and causing most of them to capsize or crash into each other. Mike loses consciousness and falls into the water. The only couple whose boat is still seaworthy picks up Mike and lets the others take him ashore and get help; Sean and the others are left adrift on the wreckage of the tangled boats. A Coast Guard helicopter Brody contacted arrives to tow them to shore, but the shark grabs onto the helicopter's pontoons, causing it to capsize and drowning the pilot. The shark knocks Sean into the water and Marge is eaten saving him.

Brody finds Mike, who informs him of the situation before Brody sends him to safety. Brody meets the others at Cable Junction, a small island home to an electrical relay station that supplies power to Amity. The cheers and jumping that greet him attract the shark, which attacks again, forcing Brody to ram the police boat. He tries to pull them using a winch, but snags an underwater electrical cable. The shark hits the wreck of the boat, sending most of the teenagers into the water, and they swim to the edge of Cable Junction; Jackie Peters, Mike's love interest, and Sean remain on the boats. Using an inflatable raft, Brody taps the power cable with an oar to attract the shark towards him. The shark bites the cable and is electrocuted. Brody picks up Sean and Jackie and they join the others on Cable Junction while waiting for help.
