Description of this Hundred Thousand Dollars in the Sun Poster
One Hundred Thousand Dollars in the Sun is a Franco-Italian adventure film directed in 1964 by Henri Verneuil. The film was presented at the 1964 Cannes Film Festival.
Freight forwarder Castigliano tasks Steiner with driving a new truck with a payload across the Sahara Desert. Steiner is new to the company and the other employees are wary of him. In the evening, Steiner goes out with Rocco, Marec and a few colleagues. The next morning, the truck disappeared. Castigliano is furious and orders Marec to recover the truck stolen by Rocco. Rocco and his girlfriend Pepa are heading towards the border. A chase begins across deserts and impassable areas.
Marec travels with Steiner. While crossing a state, it turns out that Steiner's name is actually Frocht; he was the leader of a band of mercenaries during a coup d'état. Rocco manages to get rid of Marec several times. Mitch has to come to Marec's aid several times. After Rocco's truck breaks down, he sets a trap for Marec and Steiner. Rocco forces Marec, at gunpoint, to trade his working truck for the defective truck. Steiner tries to defend himself and is shot in the leg. Rocco leaves Marec and Steiner stranded in the desert. Rocco tries to sell the shipment for $100,000 to a fence.
Marec and Steiner eventually make it to the next town, where Marec abandons Steiner after expressing his disgust for the man and runs into Rocco in a brothel. A wild fight breaks out between the two, and when they are too weak to continue fighting, Rocco admits that he showed up to the meeting with the fence, but it wasn't there. When he returned to the hotel, he discovered that Pepa had fled with the truck and the cargo.
