Description of this Brigitte Bardot Film Poster
Would you dance with me ? is a 1959 French-Italian drama film directed by Michel Boisrond and starring Brigitte Bardot.
Against the wishes of her rich industrialist father Albert, young Virginie (Brigitte Bardot) marries the dentist Hervé Dandieu (Henri Vidal). After three months, the passion disappeared and, after an argument, Hervé left the house to go have a drink in a club. There, he is seduced by Anita Florès (Dawn Addams), a redheaded dance teacher. Unbeknownst to her, Anita is a scammer who sent her boyfriend Léon (Serge Gainsbourg) to photograph her with Hervé. Although Hervé ultimately decides to remain faithful to his wife, Léon manages to take photos of their intimate moments.
Hervé does not give in to any of Léon's blackmail attempts, until she calls him one evening. Virginie and Albert overhear the conversation and Virginie concludes that her husband is having an affair. The next day, she follows him to Anita's dance studio and, looking through the keyhole, she sees Anita's murdered body next to Hervé, who is holding a gun in his hand. Hervé convinces her that he is not guilty and they flee the crime scene through the back door, although they are noticed by some staff members. To prove her husband's innocence, she charms Florès (Darío Moreno), Anita's husband, into hiring him as a dance teacher for the opportunity to find out more information.
While browsing the studio, Virginie catches Léon stealing money from his wallet and overhears a conversation between Léon and his mistress Daisy (Maria Pacôme), who intend to deceive the inspectors. After several investigations by inspectors, Virginie is convinced that she has found the murderer thanks to a letter. According to her, it is Gérard Lalemand. As the inspectors don't believe her, she decides to contact Gérard herself. She speaks to him on the phone and sets up an appointment, but as he does not show up, she locates his home, where she is told that Mr. Lalemand has been dead for more than three years. Virginie realizes that she has been talking to Gérard's son (Georges Descrieres), who is the same charming homosexual she met earlier at the studio.
In the meantime, Léon was arrested for blackmailing Hervé. He admits that he is the mysterious person who left the studio through the roof the night of the murder, but claims that Hervé is the culprit. To Hervé's surprise, Albert proves his innocence to the inspectors. Meanwhile, Virginie believes she has found Lalemand at Blue Fetish, a gay nightclub where he performs in drag under the name Daniel. Upon confronting him, she realizes that the man (Philippe Nicaud) is not Lalemand, and she leaves shortly after to return to her home.
There she discovers that the real Lalemand is an acquaintance of Florès and Daisy, who made a false declaration when Lalemand was still a suspect. Virginie learns that Anita was the mistress of Lelemand's father and that she had permission to benefit from Lelemand's $50 million inheritance during his lifetime. Lalemand therefore sent his friend Daniel to kill Anita. Hervé's innocence is proven and he kisses his wife gratefully.
