Description of this Motul Metal Sign
Motul is a global French company that manufactures, develops and distributes lubricants for engines (motorcycles, cars and other vehicles) and for industry.
Founded in 1853 in New York, Swan & Finch began its business in the high-quality lubricants business. From 1920, it turned to international markets by exporting some of its portfolio brands such as Aerul, Textul, Motul.
In 1932, Ernst Zaug negotiated the distribution in France of Motul brand products with Swan & Finch via his company Supra Penn. In 1953, Swan & Finch's centenary was celebrated with the global launch of Motul Century, which became the first multigrade oil on the European market. However, Swan & Finch suspended operations in 1957. Supra Penn purchased all ownership and patents relating to the Motul brand, which was renamed after the company's main product and became Motul SA.
In 1966, the Century 2100 appeared on the market. It is the first semi-synthetic lubricant for automobiles, a product that withstands stresses and mechanical loads ten times greater than those of usual lubricants. In 1971, Motul innovated again with Century 300V, the first 100% synthetic automobile oil. Motul strengthened its international presence in the 1980s: in Germany with Motul Deutschland in 1980, in Spain in 1988, in the United States in 1989, in Italy in 1994, in Asia-Pacific in 2002, in Russia and Brazil in 2005, and in India in 2006. In addition, Motul created a new activity in 2001: Motul Tech, specializing in industrial lubricants.
Today, Motul is present in more than 80 countries and designs, develops and distributes lubricants with higher technical added value. As a pioneer in many synthetic and semi-synthetic products, Motul has always prioritized innovation, research and development. The company is also the market leader in motorcycle lubricants in France. In the field of motor sports, many manufacturers trust Motul for its technological developments in the field of car/motorcycle competition. Motul has thus developed close relationships with manufacturers such as Nissan, Yamaha, Subaru, Toyota, Honda and Suzuki, etc.
