Septime runs a large Parisian restaurant, flattering the customers (unless they are German) and mistreating his staff. Novalès, a chef from a Latin American country on a state visit to France, comes to dinner and is served a house specialty, a flambé dessert. When Septimus lights it, it explodes.
Once the smoke cleared, the president disappeared. The police, led by the commissioner, initially think that Septime organized the kidnapping. When they realize he is innocent, they set him up as a decoy, expecting the kidnappers to contact him. They contact him and tell him to join them in the French Alps, where the police are following him. Enrique and Sophia, loyal collaborators of Novalès, also follow Septime to try to find their boss.
After a chase through the snowy mountains, Septime brings the kidnappers into the hands of the police. Free and back in Paris, he is kidnapped and sent to the Mediterranean coast. In a beautiful garden, he meets Novales, who has organized his own kidnapping so he can take a vacation. But he knows he will have to return to his duties and, back in Paris, he credits Septime with having found him.
Having come with his colleagues for a last festive dinner at the Septime restaurant, they are served the special flambé dessert. When Septimius lights it, it explodes again.
