Description of this Nightmare Before Christmas Poster

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stop-motion film by Touchstone Pictures, based on a story by Tim Burton, released in 1993. Although Burton participated in the development of the film as a producer, he did not direct it itself, contrary to widespread error. The film was directed by Henry Selick. The film was released in German cinemas on December 8, 1994.

Jack Skellington, a skinny skeleton in a striped suit, is the Pumpkin King and the great role model of all the residents of Halloween Town, a town where many different scary characters live who want to celebrate a better Halloween every year. Jack, however, grows tired of doing the same thing every year and sinks into melancholy. Walking through the forest, he comes to a circle of trees, each tree representing a different holiday. Curious, Jack opens the door to Christmas Town. He likes the colorful environment and the cheerfulness there so much that he wants to encourage the inhabitants of Halloween Town to celebrate Christmas this year. This is how the "Halloweeners" prepare the presents, while Jack has Santa kidnapped to fly himself towards the children in costume and in a sleigh under the name of "Nikki-Graus" (Sandy Claws in the 'original English) to give them gifts. Sally, a creature of Dr. Finklestein sewn from rags and secretly in love with Jack, is the only one who understands that all this is not right and tries to stop Jack. Santa Claus is dragged to Oogie Boogie, a "spectre" (the English boogieman corresponds to the German "bogeyman"), and tortured in the company of Sally. Meanwhile, Jack flies around the country under the name Nikki-Graus and distributes gifts as a wind-up duck that has razor-sharp teeth and bites children or the extremities of "Halloweeners". Jack is therefore quickly hunted down by the government. Using rockets, they shoot down Jack who is flying through the sky on his sleigh, but he survives. He realizes that Halloween is his holiday and that he destroyed Christmas. But the residents of Halloween Town assume that Jack is dead, just like Oogie Boogie. He continues to torment Santa and Sally. Suddenly, Jack appears and fights Oogie. The latter manages to escape, but a thread hangs from his body. Jack shoots her in revenge. The bag detaches from Oogie's body, and underneath lies his real body, made up of beetles, worms, maggots and ants ("bugs"). Everything disintegrates and we see that Oogie Boogie is just an ear clip. He is trampled by Santa Claus. He explains to Jack that he can still save Christmas. This is what happens, and even Jack and Sally end up finding each other.
