Description of this Jean De Florette Poster
Fanny is a 1932 French romantic film directed by Marc Allégret starring Orane Demazis, Raimu and Alida Rouffe. It is based on the 1931 play by Marcel Pagnol. This is the second part of the Marseillaise film trilogy, which begins with Marius (1931) and ends with César (1936). Like Marius, the film was a success at the French box office and is still considered a classic of French cinema. It was filmed at the Billancourt studios in Paris and on location in Marseille. The film's sets were designed by art director Gabriel Scognamillo.
The story takes place in Marseille. Marius, the son of the bartender César, had a love story with Fanny, a girl from the neighborhood and the fish seller at the port. Marius then made his dream come true by setting sail for the seven seas. Fanny then discovers that she is pregnant with Marius, a shameful situation in the community since she is a single mother with a father incapable of ensuring her future and that of his child. She accepts her mother's advice to marry a more prosperous port salesman, Honoré Panisse, who is 30 years older than her. A few months after the marriage and the birth of the baby, Marius returns and tries to win Fanny back.
