Description of this Dr Strangelove Poster

Dr. Strangelove is a 1964 British-American dark comedy film, produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick.

With a script by Terry Southern and Kubrick, it is based on Peter George's novel Red Alert. Dr. Strangelove features a stellar performance from comedian Peter Sellers, who plays three different roles.

Like many other strips of the era, the film was shot in black and white, with many dark scenes, an aspect that emphasizes Kubrick's characteristic dark humor.[citation needed] In 1989, the film was considered "culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.

United States Air Force General Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden; given name Jack The Ripper) plans to start a nuclear war with the Soviet Union in an attempt to prevent what it considers as a communist conspiracy to fluoridate water, thereby contaminating Americans' "precious bodily fluids." He orders, without authorization from President Merkin Muffley (Peter Sellers), his nuclear strike squad, to bomb their respective targets within the Soviet Union, hoping that the president will order a full-scale attack finding no other option.

General Ripper is unaware, however, that the Soviets have a "Doomsday Department", which would be activated automatically in the event of a nuclear attack on the territory of the Soviet Union, destroying all life on the Earth's surface. by radioactive contamination.

The doctor. Strangelove (Peter Sellers), an exciting Nazi and advisor to the president, explains to staff gathered in the Pentagon war room how the device is a natural extension of the Cold War strategy of mutually assured destruction, deterring a real nuclear exchange. Additionally, the machine cannot be disconnected, as this would diminish its value as a deterrent.

The attack plan sent by General Ripper stipulates that the squad plane must not obey any communications unless it has a predetermined secret code, known only to the general, thus preventing another authority to interrupt the attack.

As a result, the US government is cooperating with the Soviets to detect and shoot down their own planes, unless they can contact and return. General Ripper's air base is attacked by US Army troops and he orders a defense, personally firing a machine gun at the attackers. Finally, the base is captured and General Ripper commits suicide after his forces surrender.

Ripper's plan is thwarted by Royal British Air Force (RAF) Captain Lionel Mandrake (Peter Sellers), a military official participating in an "exchange program" with the US Air Force, who deduces the secret code of some sketches for children written by General Ripper. The predefined secret code is sent to the bombers and they begin the withdrawal.

Unfortunately, one of the B-52s ("The Leper Colony") cannot communicate by radio, having been damaged by a Soviet missile in one of the attacks to defend the country, and continues its mission to drop the bomb nuclear on its initially assigned target.

At the time of bombing, due to fuel loss in the bomber, they change the target target and cannot be detected by the defense system, the pump tank door does not work and is blocked. Trying to free it manually, B-52 pilot Major TJ "King" Kong (Slim Pickens) manages to repair it mounted on one, wearing his big-winged hat. The door opens and the largest falls, mounted on the bomb, thus triggering worldwide destruction. Hold the bomb in one hand and wave your cowboy hat in the air, in homage to the horse rodeo technique.

The Doomsday Device is activated automatically and in humanity's final moments, Dr. Strangelove recommends to President Muffley that a group of humans are hiding deep in various mine shafts around the country, over 1,000 m deep, where nuclear radioactivity cannot reach them and in order to repopulate the Earth in the future. General Turgidson begins to rave, thinking of surpassing the Soviets in expanding mine and shelter construction, planning a future war of over 100 years, when the radiation has worn off, to capture enemy mines .

The doctor. Strangelove gets up from his wheelchair announcing that he has a plan, and when he realizes that he can walk, he shouts "Mein Führer, I can walk!" just a second before the doomsday bombs begin to explode in the world, ending at the end of humanity.
