Description of this Les Demoiselles De Rochefort Poster
On a Friday morning, a caravan of trucks arrives in the French seaside town of Rochefort on the Bay of Biscay, bringing the fair which will take place in the town square on Sunday. Étienne and Bill, two showmen who sell motorcycles, bicycles and boats, help with the installation, while, in an apartment, Delphine teaches classical dance to a group of children and her twin sister, Solange, accompanies the dancers at the piano. The twins live in Rochefort, but aspire to find ideal love and settle in Paris, Delphine to dance and Solange to compose.
Yvonne, the twins' mother, runs a café on the village square. Among his regular customers, Maxence, a sailor who considers himself above all a painter and a poet in search of the ideal woman. A painting he made of what he imagines this woman to be is on display in the art gallery of Guillaume Lancien, Delphine's selfish boyfriend, and Delphine sees it when she goes there to put an end to their relationship. As he looks a lot like her, she wants to meet the artist, but Guillaume lies to her and tells her that the painter has just left for Paris.
Delphine talks to Solange about the artist and they decide to finally settle in Paris. Solange goes to see Simon Dame in his music store to ask him to introduce her to her old friend, the successful American composer Andy Miller, who is currently giving a series of recitals in Paris. While she is there, Simon tells her about his romantic past with a woman who carried his child, but left him because she couldn't stand his last name. He says he recently returned to Rochefort to open the store because that's where he met this woman, although as far as he knows she is now in Mexico. Later, Yvonne tells Maxence the story of her relationship with the father of her young son, Booboo, indicating that she regrets leaving this man because she did not want to become "Madame Dame".
While going to pick up Booboo from school, Solange meets a charming stranger and they immediately fall in love with each other. It is Andy, who came to Rochefort to visit Simon during a break in his tour, but he and Solange separate without exchanging their names. After she leaves, he notices that she has dropped the sheet music for part of a piano concerto she composed and picks it up.
Stephen and Bill's girlfriends run off with a couple of sailors, which is hurtful both personally and professionally, as the women were supposed to dance at Stephen and Bill's booth at the fair to attract customers. Having met Yvonne, they think of asking her daughters to help them, in exchange for a free trip to Paris.
The twins perform at the fair to enthusiastic applause. Guillaume says he will make Delphine a star in Paris if she gets back together with him, but she refuses. Simon announces to Solange that Andy has agreed to meet her in Paris. Étienne and Bill say they love Delphine and Solange, but the twins rebuke them, without losing their temper.
Monday morning, Simon goes to the twins' apartment. He tells Solange to go to his store to see Andy, who is back unexpectedly for a short time, and agrees to pick Booboo up from school so she can do so. Maxence says goodbye to Yvonne at the café and leaves for Paris to become an artist and continue looking for the ideal woman. Delphine enters and, while saying goodbye to her mother, mentions that a certain "Simon Dame" is going to look for Booboo. Yvonne leaves abruptly and finds Simon at Booboo's school.
At the music store, Solange finds Andy playing her concerto, they dance and kiss. Delphine asks Étienne and Bill to wait for Solange, but it is already time to leave and the group leaves without her. On the way, the caravan from the fair comes across Maxence who is hitchhiking, and Étienne stops to pick him up, which has the effect of bringing Delphine and Maxence together (although their meeting is not shown in the film). screen).
