Description of this Aston Martin Metal Plate
Aston Martin Lagonda is an independent British manufacturer of luxury sports and grand tourer cars. Its predecessor was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Run from 1947 by David Brown, it was associated with expensive grand tourers in the 1950s and 1960s, as well as with the fictional character James Bond after he used a DB5 model in the 1964 film Goldfinger His sports cars are considered a British cultural icon. Aston Martin has held a Royal Warrant as a supplier of cars to the Prince of Wales since 1982 and has more than 160 car dealerships in 53 countries, making it a global automotive brand. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is part of the FTSE 250 index. In 2003 it received the Queen's Award for Enterprise for its outstanding contribution to international business. The company has gone bankrupt seven times in its history.
The headquarters and main production of its sports cars and grand tours are at a 22 hectare factory in Gaydon, Warwickshire, England, on the former RAF Gaydon site, next to the Jaguar Center Land Rover Gaydon. The former factory in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, currently houses Aston Martin Works' classic car department, which focuses on sales, service, parts and restoration operations. The 36-hectare factory in St Athan, Wales, comprises three converted MOD St Athan 'super-sheds' and serves as the production site for Aston Martin's first ever SUV, the DBX. Aston Martin plans to build electric vehicles at its Gaydon and St Athan factories by 2025.
Its Formula 1 team is headquartered at Silverstone, with a new 15,000 square meter (160,000 square foot) facility expected to be operational by 2022. The new facility will be based directly opposite the Silverstone circuit, on 29 acres of land at Litchlake Farm The Aston Martin brand is increasingly being used, mainly through licensing, for other products including a submarine, real estate projects and aircraft.
