Description of this Vintage Lyon Poster
Rogers Broders is the source of this vintage 1920 advertising poster for the Lyon Fair. In the foreground, we can see the statue of a man on a lion, the symbol of the city of Lyon. In the background, we can see the Guillotère bridge as it had existed before the German army destroyed it in 1944. In the background of the image, we can recognize the hills of Fourvière with the basilica above , as well as the dome of the Hôtel-Dieu. The advertising visual surprises with its particular colors: yellow and purple. The poster artist Broders created countless advertising works . His technique? He relied on postcards, and when necessary, he traveled exceptionally to the location in question. The postcard he used to create this retro poster is famous and the resemblance to Rogers' work is striking. The only difference is that there is no statue on the map: this statue actually decorates the Lafayette Bridge. Aficionados of the capital of Gaul will be seduced by this vintage poster of Lyon which will make an excellent decorative object for the wall decoration of their interior .
